I caught my plane just in time
And we took off a into the night,
Down below in the Venice of the East,
The klongs sparkled in the lights,
We crossed the river Kwai and out to Myanmar,
And out to the Andaman,
The flight to Dubai would be 7 hours long,
So you settle down as best you can
The flight was long so I wrote a song,
for the girl in the seat next to me.
She was happy to flirt and flash her thighs
As she messed around with her TV
The food was great, and I ate my steak
With a bottle of Chardonnay,
There was a break in the clouds and when I looked down,
I could see the hills of Galloway
Here we are home again,
It’s been about 20 years,
Seems like nothings changed at all
No, it seems like nothing’s changed...
I left home to find a better place,
And maybe I did for a while,
The sun was warm and it never rained at all,
It was great in the Land of Smiles.

Nowhere to Run to
04:54
|
|||
Way back in the Khagan Valley,
I last saw her there.
Tryin' to make a deal with a German Industrialist,
Wanting the Lions share.
I made my escape through Abbotobad,
I suppose she followed me there,
She ran me to ground in the Murray Hills,
Man I liked it, I sure liked it there.
Nowhere to run to,
Nowhere to hide,
Runnin' on empty,
Choked up inside,
Nowhere to run to…
Finally made it across to Madras,
I went across overland.
Hitched a ride to Georgetown Penang,
And now I'm in Southern Siam.
Here some lady told me she loved me,
I missed the dollar signs in her eyes,
When she realised I was broke she left me,
I guess she just took me for a ride.

The Market Place
03:20
|
|||
The red hot sun beat down on the ground
In the Market Place only the sound
Of the bustling, shuffling, crowded streets,
The Vendors shouting: disbelief
On the hidden faces of purdah grief look on….
Mangy dogs running through the legs of
The throng a thousand fold no less.
There's a tearoom cafe where on the day
The old men gather reminisce of
Times they knew in their distant past look on….
Remember the days when we were young,
The sign of our youth was the rising sun
You and I were young enough
To have no cares of our own,
But the years hit hard and the time went fast,
Now the circles turned full tide…

Crackin' Up
03:24
|
|||
First you’re a baby, then your a child,
They send you to school with your head runnin’ wild.
Give you some lessons to slow you right down,
It takes you 20 more years just to come back around,
You’re Crackin’ up,
You’re Crackin’ up,
You’re Crackin’ up,
Then you leave school at a suitable age,
You get yourself a job with a suitable wage.
The management say “Hey!, You’re just what we need,
You’d better wanna follow as we wanna lead”,
You’re Crackin’ up,
You’re Crackin’ up,
You’re Crackin’ up,
Everybody’s rushin’
Round and round and round,
Here and there and everywhere,
Everybody’s upside down
You’re Crackin’ up,
You’re Crackin’ up,
You’re Crackin’ up,
You go to a bar, You’re feeling quite dry,
You really need something to get yourself high.
Money on the table, to get nicely pissed,
There’s nothing quite like it to forget about this,
You’re Crackin’ up,
You’re Crackin’ up,
You’re Crackin’ up,
You’re Crackin’ up,
You’re Crackin’ up,
You’re Crackin’ up,

I Wonder Just How Long
03:44
|
|||
Standing down by the river,
Watching the pebbles lose their way.
Hearing the sound of the water,
What a peaceful day,
And I wonder just how long it's gonna last,
Yes, I wonder just how long it's gonna last
Springtime sees me walking through the fields,
Watching the Kestrel choose his prey,
Swooping down, gliding low,
Well, it's only natures' way,
And I wonder just how long it's gonna last,
Yes, I wonder just how long it's gonna last
I'm up here with the Kites looking down,
Looking down seeing miles around,
And the wind in the air is the only sound I hear.
I'm waiting now for the boatman to come,
Laid on the table I can see my gun
I'm almost ready to go to the other side
I place my dentures back in their tumbler,
reflecting on what I'd seen and done,
Hearing the sound of the water,
Reaching for my gun,
And I wonder just how long it's gonna last,
Yes, I wonder just how long it's gonna last
And I wonder just how long it's gonna last,
Yes, I wonder just how long it's gonna last

Gotta keep on runnin'
Stay ahead of the game.
Something's out to get me,
So keep swimming through the rain.
Just gotta keep moving,
They'll catch me if they can.
They'll hang me up by the ankles,
And catch my blood in a can.
As a child I wondered,
What's that under my bed,
Who's that there in the wardrobe,
Who's that inside my head?
When your children wake up screamin'
Go to them as so's you can,
Nothin's gonna stop them dreaming,
You gotta save them if you can.
Well ain't scared of the dark no more
Well I ain't scared no more.
An' I ain't scared in the park no more
I ain't gonna run no more.
There's nobody under my bed no more
Now, I ain't scared no more
There's nobody in my head no more
I ain't gonna run no more!
Well ain't scared of the dark no more
Well I ain't scared no more.
An' I ain't scared in the park no more
I ain't gonna run no more.
There's nobody under my bed no more
I ain't gonna hide no more
There's nobody in my head no more
I ain't gonna run no more!
As a child I wondered,
What's that under my bed,
Who's that there in the wardrobe,
Who's that inside my head?
When your children wake up screamin'
Go to them as so's you can,
Nothin's gonna stop them dreaming,
You gotta save them if you can.
Well ain't scared of the dark no more
Now I ain't scared no more.
An' I ain't scared in the park no more
I ain't gonna run no more.
There's nobody under my bed no more
Now, I ain't scared no more
There's nobody in my head no more
I ain't gonna run no more!

The Love Ambassedors
05:40
|
|||
I guess you want to know whose side we're on
Want to know who's right and who's wrong
You think you know just who's to blame
It's the ones who put us all to shame
And while there's people killing all ‘round the world
It's time for us to make ourselves be heard
We are the love ambassadors
We are the ambassadors of love
We are the love ambassadors
Welcome to the Embassy of love
And when the battles almost fought and won
They'll find a way to fight another one
Power hungry leaders rub their hands
As they rush to grab the black gold from the sands
And Lennon tried to make himself be heard
He died to rid the darkness from the earth
He was a love ambassador
He was an ambassador of love
He was a love ambassador
Martyr for the embassy of love
Well what have we got in the embassy of love
We've got peace and we got hope
Well what have we got in the embassy of love
We've got peace and we got Love
And the hypocrites who call themselves the press
Condemn the war then glorify the mess
Religions leaders still living by the sword
Two thousand years of history unobserved
And Neil young tries to teach the world through song
He'll tell you what is right and what is wrong
He is a love ambassador
He is an ambassador of love
Neil Young is a love ambassador
Envoy of the embassy of love

Here we go round again,
Singin' that same old song.
Tryin' to stop the black hole rise
And find out what went wrong
You say something that I don't care to hear,
An' I raise my hands to my ears,
I know what's coming now,
The sum of all my fears
Musical Ain't it funny how the bad times,
Always stand out from the good?
I even took your children in,
An' I loved ‘em like I said I would...
Even that wasn't good enough for you
You still say you need your space,
Man if I ain't good enough for you,
God Knows who you‘ll love in my place
Musical I sometimes I think I'm a child again,
As I listen to you plead.
Why d' you make such a song and dance
As you stand there and stamp your feat?!
I don't know where we're going with this
I still love you just the same,
You keep throwing my heart away,
It's all just part of your game.
